Discovered as a climbing venue in early 2025, Green Valley is located in the quiet farmlands of the Humansdorp Rural District, on the North Side of the mountain range that lies behind the town of Humansdorp. These quartzite crags are about a 1hr 30 minute drive from Gqeberha and 30-40 minute drive from the popular holiday towns of Jeffreys Bay and St Francis. The exquisite fynbos-covered hillsides of Green Valley are scattered with quality boulders and large rock faces that form part of an undulating ridgeline of quartz protrusions, like the scales along the spine of a crocodile. The area is home to plenty of wildlife, from grey rheboks and porcupines to elusive leopards and a myriad of birdlife. The orange breasted sunbird can be found here, at the eastern-most stretches of its natural range. The north-facing slopes of the Green Valley are a great location for paragliding during periods of northerly winds, as discovered by the local paragliding community.

As development of the area continues and more trails are made connecting the different sectors, hiking and trail running will be a great addition to the list of activities in the area. This is private land, and although access has never been an issue, permission must be granted by the custodians and land owners in order to use the space. Please contact Luke Cousins (0814872485) to arrange for access. The road to the parking is a very rudimental dirt track, which can be accessed by normal non-4x4 vehicles, but it is quite bumpy and rough, so caution should be exercised, especially after heavy rains.

This sector is definitely more catered towards sport and trad, with its towering rock faces, but there are some insanely good boulders that are worth getting on.
