Description

Tucked within the Overberg region, the Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail winds through the dramatic landscapes of the Riviersonderend Mountains, offering a memorable journey rich in flora, fauna, and natural beauty. The trail is renowned for its series of waterfalls and crystal-clear rock pools — perfect spots to cool off, enjoy a snack, and take a well-earned rest before continuing your hike.

The route is rated moderate to strenuous and requires a fair level of fitness due to its continuous ascents and descents. Hikers can choose between a shorter day hike — 8km to the waterfall and back (16km return) — or the full 14km point-to-point trail (28km return). For those looking to overnight in the mountains, accommodation options include Die Galg, Eagle’s Nest, and Onverwagt Cottages (note: Onverwagt requires an additional 1.5km hike after a steep ascent).

*Booking and permits for hiking must be made in advance with Cape Nature.
