This region plays host to 2 main venues, Oudtshoorn's limestone crags and the Swartberg Pass crags. Combined these two venues provide adventure, easy access and lots of 'try-hard'. The weather here can swing to extremes, being severely warm in summer with some snow on the peaks in winter. Mostly lower rainfall throughout the year with some rain occurring toward the end of winter.

There are many rest day activities in the area, such as visiting the Cango caves, ostrich farms and the Cango Wildlife Ranch. The Garden Route is also quite near by.

Most climbers stay at De Hoek Campsite, which is walking distance from the limestone climbing and only a short drive to the Swartberg Pass. However, there is ample accommodation near by. It should be noted that De Hoek has little to no cellphone reception.
